Question: Your Eminence Ayatullah Nur Mufidi, we thank you for the opportunity granted to us. How do you view Iran’s behavior in the face of the cowardly aggression by the usurping Zionist regime, and what is your overall evaluation of these events?
Ayatullah Sayyid Mujtaba Nur Mufidi: In the Name of Allah, the All-Beneficent, the All-Merciful. I believe Netanyahu and the ominous Zionist regime launched this desperate action due to a gross computational and strategic miscalculation, assuming that following events in Gaza, Lebanon, and Syria—having weakened the Axis of Resistance in their own imagination—it was now time to come after Iran. In particular, they banked on certain fractures that had emerged in recent years within Iranian society, alongside livelihood and economic difficulties that naturally created dissatisfaction among the people. They thought now was the time when, in their own false imagination, they could deliver a fundamental blow to the sacred system of the Islamic Republic, and more so a fundamental blow to Iran through external military action coupled with internal preparations and a network of operatives equipped with vast means. For their problem is not solely the Islamic system; in their belief, no power such as Iran should exist in the region. I am certain that what they harbor in mind is the fragmentation of Iran, as they sometimes express verbally, and our people have well understood this. Everything they counted on in their calculations turned against them: those minor fractures were swiftly filled within a few days. I consider this tantamount to a miracle. This is truly God’s grace and a sign of the maturity of the brave Iranian nation. Beside these, the pivotal role and wisdom of the valuable Leader of the Revolution, who as Commander quickly brought the situation under control such that in less than 24 hours a decisive response was delivered to the Zionist enemy. Highest unity and cohesion manifested, contrary to their assumption that military action and assassination of senior IRGC and armed forces commanders would lead to chaos, riots, and expanded protests; instead, cohesion ensued. Iranian society—with all its ethnic, religious, cultural, and sub-cultural diversity, and despite certain dissatisfactions in some political spectrums—swiftly transformed in the shortest time into a unified population with a single voice, supporting the system, military forces, armed forces, IRGC, Army, and Law Enforcement Forces. This was a monumental achievement, and in my estimation, its utility and impact surpass hundreds of military weapons and missiles. This is the very point our enemies never wished to comprehend, and this conduct has consistently astonished them.
On the other hand, the rapid reconstruction following the blow dealt to the armed forces at the highest military ranks was extremely vital. Had such a blow hit another country, problems would arise that might take weeks or months to compensate for; yet here, within hours, all forces were replaced and the combat organization performed its intrinsic duty impeccably, which perhaps angered enemies more than anything else. Alongside this unity and cohesion, the people demonstrated widespread cooperation in discovering infiltration and espionage networks and identifying mercenaries affiliated with the Zionist enemy. I personally witnessed numerous instances of this diligence that were truly inspiring to me: that every Iranian—young and old, man and woman—felt responsible like the eyes of an intelligence agency to rapidly report suspicious movements to relevant institutions. This is truly extraordinary—as if our intelligence organizations operated across the breadth of Iran, neutralizing many acts of sabotage prior to execution. To these, I add the massive gathering of the Iranian people in yesterday’s Friday Prayers, which truly heartened the people and devotees of Iran and the system domestically and abroad. Being in the midst of it, we might not fully grasp its significance, but what transpired yesterday across various cities of Islamic Iran delivered a powerful message to enemies while encouraging friends worldwide.
Another vital point is that the warmongering nature of Israel and the United States became clearer than ever to global public opinion. Even though Iran was negotiating and emphasizing non-pursuit of nuclear weapons, this action laid bare the nature of these criminals to everyone, such that most Arab and Islamic governments—some allies of the US—condemned it.
Therefore, I believe they made a severe mistake in planning and calculations; as the Supreme Leader stated, this profound computational error pushed them toward an abyss wherein they will fall. Moving forward, Iran’s power manifested ever more clearly. This is not merely my statement or that of domestic media; international media and political-military experts state that after a few days, Iran’s upper hand in this battle became clearly apparent. The regime’s hollow claim of fashioning an impenetrable Iron Dome turned, in the words of some analysts, into a colander. These are no small events; perhaps in 70 or 80 years Israel has not sustained such blows, breaking its hollow awe and false grandeur, bringing massive global disgrace upon them, while the Islamic Republic gained supporters in global public opinion.
In any case, viewing Netanyahu’s folly and madness from various dimensions, we can truly state that through divine grace, the wisdom of the Supreme Leader, and the vigilance and maturity of the Iranian people, achievements were attained for us—despite losses and damages—and God willing, we will soon witness the heavy defeat of this usurping regime.
Question: Most wise, respected Master. As you indicated, it was akin to a miracle: had the system spent billions of dollars to connect the new generation’s understanding with the malice of America and Israel, it would not have been feasible, yet this event made it strikingly clear, forging a new relationship between the new generation and the Islamic Republic. Now, why do you think Netanyahu strives to drag America into the war, and Trump has had the audacity to threaten the Supreme Leader?
Ayatullah Sayyid Mujtaba Nur Mufidi: It is completely clear that this speaks of their weakness. Had Netanyahu been capable of reaching results on his own, he would not make such a request. That you see them uttering nonsense and threatening the supreme Leader of the Revolution is because they are aware of the pivotal role of our wise Leader and seek to frighten the people and make false displays of power. If they do not know, it is good to remind them that such insolence will bring upon them a calamity causing them to wish for death thousands of times. Any assault upon this position will erupt a volcano of honor (ghayrat) and revenge that will leave thousands of corpses on their hands, catching fire across the globe against them. They would do well to consult history and see what outcome awaited perpetrators who dared insult the position of supreme religious authority (Marja’iyyah) and leadership of the Ummah.
Question: How do you view the future of this aggression?
Ayatullah Sayyid Mujtaba Nur Mufidi: Our nation must rest assured that this course of events will conclude in favor of Iran, the Iranian people, and Islam. This rests both upon the historical experiences of this land and upon divine promise. I state with absolute certainty that one of the explicit tenets (muhkamat) of the Quran—indeed, of all heavenly scriptures—is God’s promise of victory. The Quran repeatedly references promises God granted for assistance and victory across past religions; this is an unalterable divine custom (Sunnah).
In the Quran we observe two features for this divine promise: “And Allah made it not except as good tidings for you and to reassure your hearts thereby; and victory is not except from Allah, the Exalted in Might, the Wise” [Quran 3:126]. In Surah Al ‘Imran, God states that the promise of divine assistance and victory is presented as glad tidings and tranquility for hearts. God seeks through the promise of victory both to grant glad tidings and to tranquilize the hearts of believers. This is divine Sunnah without doubt. Almighty God will pursue the defeat of disbelievers and striking them. Hence we must believe in this promise; it is divine glad tidings that must bring tranquility to our hearts. Hypocrites and the diseased of heart always doubted these promises: “And [remember] when the hypocrites and those in whose hearts is disease said, ‘Allah and His Messenger did not promise us except delusion'” [Quran 33:12]; or in another verse: “And they say, ‘When is this promise, if you should be truthful?'” [Quran 10:38]. They cast doubt upon these promises, asking where God’s promise was. Now too such doubts might be cast, yet God’s promise is a True Promise (Wa’d Sadiq) that will certainly materialize—specifically regarding the Children of Israel, where God stated explicitly: “And We decreed for the Children of Israel in the Scripture, ‘You will surely cause corruption on the earth twice, and you will surely reach haughtiness and tyrant height'” [Quran 17:4]. At the end of this section, God states: “And if you return [to transgression], We will return [to punishment]. And We have made Hell, for the disbelievers, a prison-bed” [Quran 17:8]. Thus both the general divine promise for victory of servants over oppressors exists, and specifically regarding the Children of Israel, this promise is explicitly articulated in the Quran.
Therefore, the people must rest assured that the divine promise will, God willing, be fulfilled beyond doubt. Of course, hardships exist, and victory is not attained without them. God willing, with faithful, compassionate patience and endurance, and with love for Iran and Iranian identity, the people will pass through this stage as well, while those who pursued a mirage—thinking they could achieve false desires through foreign aid and joining enemies of this land—will receive a blow that awakens them from this sleep.
Question: In your opinion, after victory, how can we preserve and reinforce this cohesion?
Ayatullah Sayyid Mujtaba Nur Mufidi: Regarding the future, my point is that God has provided valuable assets for us anew: national unity, cohesion, trust, hope, alignment with system officials, and affection for the armed forces, IRGC, and Army—which existed always and is now reinvigorated. This asset must be guarded; it is God’s grace for which we must be thankful. In the future, all officials must work with full force to solve people’s problems, relieve their burdens, reduce grief, reinforce established foundations, preserve national cohesion, and at an opportune moment take serious decisions regarding the infiltration network and traitorous mercenaries. A review and cleansing must take place so that remnants of these mercenaries are identified and purged across levels, preventing further betrayals.
Thank you very much; we benefited greatly.
